Y is for yokel Synonyms of yokel are these: oaf, hick, rube, bumpkin, hayseed, clodhopper and in the Hoosier state, a yokel is known as hillbilly. (hence my photo of a mountain scene) "Li’l Abner", a yokel of comic strip fame by cartoonist Al Capp , went to Broadway in 1956. Three classmates of mine and I were treated by a father of one to see "Li'l Abner" on our Senior Trip in 1957.
