Christmas Collages

more Christmas decorations at middle son and his wife's home All the nutcrackers belonged to my cousin's late husband. Sadly my cousin died this year;  her children  sold their dad's nutcrackers to my son Derek. The stunning ornament wreath was made by Margaret Ann's sister. The ceramic tree was made by me some 30 years ago. The stained glass nativity scene on the window and the ceramic Santa head  were made by Derek.  The Santas on the floor were a joint-project of Derek and Margaret Ann.  He made the Santa bodies  and she sewed their clothing. Indeed they are very talented!

Holy Day

Today is a Holy Day of Obligation  in the Roman Catholic Church, whereas the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is celebrated.   ' Although it is not mentioned in scripture, the Assumption of Mary has been a solidly held belief of our faith since apostolic times. It has been celebrated liturgically since the 6th century AD. The Assumption of Mary was declared a dogma (a divinely revealed truth) of the Catholic Church by Pope Pius XII in 1950 when he proclaimed, in a document entitled  Munificentissimus Deus ,' “The Immaculate Mother of God, the ever-virgin Mary, having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heaven.” source:  http://www.ourcatholicprayers.com/assumption-of-Mary.html I edited, using PicMonkey's Spotlight on Mary's image.   I attended the 8:15 a.m. Mass at my parish church. What a glorious feeling I felt with a big part of the church filled with  the students who attend St. Mary Elementary School  and ...

My Much-loved Gift of Wellies

enhanced with pink frost at PicMonkey Wellies, adorned by pink princess kitties with crowns apt gift for winter. My desire for Wellies is well known in my family. I wanted them, but I totally did not expect them for Christmas.  So I was thrilled and excited when I opened my gift.  Wow, not only Wellies, but pink princess kitty ones!  My youngest noted that they were surely bought in the kids' shoe department, but my cousin (who accompanied daughter-in-law when she bought them) said that they were not purchased in said department.  Aha!  So I'm not the only one who would be tickled PINK on receiving these.  I gave thanks in my head to the gift givers every time I needed to step out in the big snow we received last month and on into this month.  Thank you, middle son and wife!

A Photo A Day: My Daily Sustenance, Day 359

Ornaments with "boost" from PicMonkey, for edits. We've waited four weeks and now it's Christmas Eve. What have I pondered during this time? With the help of blogging friends, I feel that I've delved deeper into knowledge of and attitudes toward the Virgin Mary.  I have tried to be more prayerful and less consumed with myself and the fact that I am a widow.  With my chronic depression, it is so easy to blame it for my moodiness and loss of energy.  So with the impending new year, I am pondering my goal for 2013. I am asking for assistance from  Our Blessed Mother.  After all, she had the cumbersome task of raising our Lord.  She surely can help this hapless human.  Right?  Now all I need to do is sharpen my skill at hearing words that one doesn't hear through one's ears.  Maybe it is necessary to plead for that too. Leaving you to enjoy the day, I am... Quoting Clement Clarke Moore: "Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good ...

A Photo A Day: My Daily Sustenance, Day 302 on Quotography

an apt bookmark if one is a Dr. Seuss fan...and I am! I'm sure that many readers know that Dr. Seuss is the pen name of Theodor Seuss Geisel.  “A person’s a person no matter how small.” ~Dr. Seuss~ Other Dr. Seuss quotes link to Quotography . I love the special and fun fonts PicMonkey has for Halloween. My dumpling Myah is talking into the TV remote, thinking that it is a cell phone. She associates buttons and a screen with cell phones.  She brings sunlight into my little corner of this world with her special way of seeing life.
