Still abed   I notice shadows above me. 4-14-2013 Due to friend GB's question,  I looked more closely at my shadow shot. Oops!  This is not the fan in my bedroom! It's in a church.   Note to self: look at details before posting! Here's my new haiku: Looking more closely, note church fans spinning as if a dizzying top. more Top Shots here more shadows here and SOOC here

Mornings with Mary

My post is dedicated to my cousin Rosemary, who died  unexpectedly  this past Thursday, March 21, 2013  and to her family. The verse below was written originally  for a friend who suffered the death of a son. Mary, Virgin Mary, Miriam, Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God,  Or, as she’s called by the faith of Islam, Maryam. However you address her , her aid is nearby. As has been said before, and most likely will be again, these times are hard. So hard that even as adults,  we seek our mother’s comforting touch.   May our loving Mother bring whatever is needed for the peace of Christ To dwell in your family’s hearts and home. visit Rebecca's splendid blog for others who share love for  our Blessed Mother  head over to Weekly Top Shot #76

I added the arrow to this image to point out the exact shrine piece made by Hettienne. Hettienne has an Etsy shop . Visit there if you have a special devotion to Mary. She is a talented artist. Bird at My Feeder

I spied you eating. With delight, I rushed to find you in Audubon! more Weekly  Top Shot I figured this was a woodpecker of some kind. Sorrowfully, Audubon's North American Birds showed no such bird for me.  Later, youngest son googled on his phone.  Nope, no help there.  Bleh!  Still later, I was reading comments on my blog so I followed the commentator to her blog.  (I like to visit the sites of those who take the time to comment.)  Black Jack's Carol had an image of my new bird!  It's a female downy woodpecker.  Hurrah for bloggers who share their knowledge with us! New and unknown bird seeks my heart's admiration, given speedily. seek others at Haiku My Heart
another angle Here I edited image with sepia. Here I added frosted edges. This is SOOC shot. Water dripping down,  frozen enroute from the roof, beautiful like glass. linking to Weekly Top Shot #66 and SOCC Sunday

Weekly Top Shot: Light

First time for this meme.  I wavered back and forth between these two images.  Really, it's impossible to compete with our Lord's paintbrush.  Or better, there is no competition, is there?  But I am very fond of the star ornament; it was made with a special paper made during WWII. I put the notation about its history away for safe keeping.  It's so safe that I cannot find it! Star, bright on the tree, wished it had been in the skies, over Bethlehem. more Weekly Top Shot
