 Virgin of Guadalupe La Promesa Shrine Midland, Texas Prayer to the Virgin of Guadalupe Virgin of Guadalupe, Mother of the Americas… grant to our home the grace of loving and respecting life in its beginnings, with the same love which you conceived in your womb the life of the son of God. Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Fair Love, protect our families, so that they may always be united, and bless the upbringing of our children. We beg you grant us a great love for all the holy Sacraments, which are, as it were, the signs that your Son left us on earth. This is my home altar.  Most of the sacred objects were gifts to me, many from my Catholic first grade students. One exception is the icon at the upper right of the white statue of Mary.  That was a gift from my cousin.  She bought it for me when she went to Alaska from a Russian Orthodox church gift store.  I love that it is unique among my other Mary images.
