DAY 289 of NONNIE'S PHOTO A DAY: Vintage Photo of Charlie and Our Momma

stern looking baby Mom’s face full of joy and pride older sister too I have a vivid memory of my sitting on the blue divan and Momma’s putting my baby brother Charlie on my lap.  He was adorable and sweet.  His sweet nature never changed. He was so well-thought of that his home improvement customers not only came to Charlie’s funeral but chose to speak of how Charlie made them feel. I miss him still and I know that his family does too.  Rest in peace, my sweet brother. shared with Jane's VINTAGE WEEKLY

My Random 5 for Friday, January 24, 2014

Random 5 Friday Jan. 24, 2014 1. I am repeatedly surprised when I become aware that Friday has arrived! 2. Christmas begins the season of remembering the past for me,  and winter continues it with my pursuit  of writing down memories to correlate  with vintage photos for the perusal  of my grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  (when their interest grows in such an activity) 3. A couple of years ago when I mentioned to my...

Vintage Weekly: Child on Pony

in the olden days photographers sought clients at their domiciles My parents moved to Muncie, Indiana at the end of WWII, when rental housing was sparse. My momma told me that Daddy would get in line around 4 a.m. seeking a place for us to live. This decrepit apartment house was to be our home till something better was available. However, my mother kept  her concerns locked deep inside till I was older and she shared how frightening it was to have two small children living in such a place. If I'd had a camera  back then, one would see the wonders my mother wrought in the inside of this humble abode! I think that Momma must have saved money for quite a while to have this photograph taken. my sweet 3 year old brother I didn't notice the pup till I scanned this photo. It must have belonged to the people in the downstairs apartment. linking with pleasure to Jane's Vintage Weekly
