DAY 303 of NONNIE'SPHOTO A DAY: A Blended Family

Today this family would be called a blended family, but in the late 1930s, they were just a family.  The adults are the Kern siblings (including my mom in white clothes and my dad in the middle) with their spouses, mother and their step-father.  The three children are Duckworth siblings. Grandpa Kern died at age 41 leaving seven children.  I knew only my grandpa Duckworth. Two Kern brothers were not present for the taking of the picture.  Judging from the size of the three younger siblings, I was born two years after this.  sharing with Jane's VINTAGE WEEKLY Any bloggers who have vintage photos,  please join us in sharing them!

Random 5 Friday: My Random 5

Although I have often read other bloggers' contributions to Nancy's meme Random 5 Friday, I had not provided any myself. I am changing that status today. My random 5: 1. My family consists of 4 children, 6 grandchildren  and 2 great-grandchildren, whom I love deeply. 2. I have two cats (Jax & Ting Ting) who provide me with comfort and entertainment. 3.  I am part of a ladies' Bible Study Group  and Women at the Well through my parish. 4. I love to read, especially mysteries, and I belong to a book club, which meets monthly in my home. 5. My hobby is scrapbooking. Finally, Granddaughter was told to come in at 8:30 last night.   Inducing labor started at 8 a.m. today. Our little punkin shown above took only 5 or 6 hours from beginning to birth. Weekend Reflections: Table at Puerto Vallarta

My daughter-in-law, her daughter, my cousin and I lunched at Puerto Vallarta after shopping at the various Christmas bazaars.  Very tasty! linked to James' Weekend Reflections   Below is the yellow page ad for the restaurants in Muncie.

A Photo A Day: My Daily Sustenance, Day 311

This painting was created by my gifted daughter-in-law. It hangs in my bathroom where I can enjoy it many times a day.  When she painted it, her status was one of BFF.  Now she's both my BFF and daughter-in-law.  It's one of those relationships where each of us has been there for the other through thick and thin.   She and her hubby (my middle son) both have many talents; they often combine them for making gifts for family members. Daisies, white flowers, perking up my attitude with their loveliness.
