1. My 3-year old great grand-daughter’s first day of daycare was this past Monday.   One of the caregivers was surprised to learn that it was her first day because how she seemed at ease with her surroundings.  This relieved her momma, Nana and myself. 2. I am feeling exuberant for the actual onset of spring!   I have even viewed the first signs of spring in my yard. 3. I kept my best friend, who is also the wife of my middle son,  company while Son went to Comic Con with his grandson.   We all had a full weekend.  4. Daughter-in-law and I spent Saturday morning  at St. Mary’s Day of Recollection in our parish hall.   It was well attended and enhanced us in our spiritual growth.   The main speaker was the diocesan Vicar-General  who happens to be our pastor’s brother.  5. One of my former students is now in her 5th year of remission  from her cancer.  She celebrated that fact recently.   I pray that she remains so. ...

Last night at St. Mary Church, many parishioners gathered together for a prayer service and the recital of the Rosary in honor of Father Keane. He was unique, intelligent, well-informed on current issues, and he had a sense of humor par excellence. Men of the Knights of Columbus took turns keeping vigil. this image of some of the local Knights of Columbus found here Along with the Knights, parishioners also took turns keeping vigil  through the night, lasting till 10:30 a.m. and the funeral at 11:00 a.m. Today our church was packed to say our farewells and convey our respect and love for this wonderful priest.      Remembered Joy Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free! On Sunday afternoon at St. Mary's parish hall was a reception for Father Andre.  Many parishioners attended it to listen to a presentation by Father and Tony Costello, a local parishioner and architect/professor at Ball State University. The person who organized the whole thing is   a lady who gives her all to her family, parish, community and our neighbors in Haiti. Becky has organized many different fund raisers for Father Andre's orphanage in Haiti. Her latest fund raiser is a series of rummage sales with all the proceeds going to the orphanage. Behind Father are drawings for a village setting for residences for the orphans. Orphanages in the past were cold, sterile institutions. Father and Tony want the children to live in a home atmosph...
