WHIRLIGIG 12: City of Memories

Traditions, customs hold there’s a time of grieving
then…time to move on. Commercials wander
across the screen… evoking tremulous memories.
The woman never knows what will spark the remember mode,
things forgotten, return. Who truly perceives
the architecture of minds- the city of love? How to separate the warm memories that make her smile from the ones that bring on a torrent of tears? Even nine years later, this widow has no answers except to continue living and loving.

“Life happens too fast for you ever to think about it.
If you could just persuade people of this,
but they insist on amassing information.”

I especially like "architecture of the mind". I believe grief holds a private mansion there, with numerous rooms for remembering,

Good use of the words....seamless poem. Enjoyed it.

How true - you never know what will spark a memory. Nicely done.

The fear in remembering is to recall the person you did not want to be. Better to write down all that was good and happy and relive those times with joy.

Time can sometimes feel cruel in its continuance...but it always goes on if not in the way we would like..perhaps that is good? Also love the Vonnegut quote..

Yes, grief can be a pesky thing, but it is like herpes, we get it, and then we have it. It will always be with you. Each must learn to accomodate it. It is said, it makes us a deeper woman...maybe?

I think your last thought must be true because how would one come through death of a loved one only to live life on the surface.

thank you. yes, when I think about regrets of "should haves", it affords nothing good for me.

Oh how this touches my heart.
Continuing is all that is asked of us, isn't it?
