Wordle 98: My First-Born

Word List for Wordle 98:
blue   blessed   deserves   first   gasps   instant
slap   snare   dust   unbalance   ride   wings

My Story:
My blessed first-born son…
in an instant, his heart
clutches tightly to mine.
His father waits patiently
for son’s blue eyes to transform
to the hue of his brown eyes.
(They never did; he is our only
blue-eyed child.)
When I walk downtown,
my babe swaddled in his stroller,
a motherly figure approaches
and gasps at his beauty,
then asks, “What is her name?”
I reply only with his male surname,
having all logic caught in the snare
of a brain-freeze.
Then out of her mouth
comes this, insensitive to me, riposte,
“But, he’s too pretty for a boy!”
This is the very first time that this happens.
The surprise of her thoughtlessness
is a slap to my face and
throws me into an unbalanced state.
Later in my mind, I wonder what kind of
woman is this?  She deserves, at least,
a smart retort.
What on earth is wrong with her,
did her brain take wings,
or did it take a ride on a bronco,
leaving only the dust
of her tactless remark?
Needless to say, I hope, that
none of these remarks
ever are released from my mouth.

Note: This is based on a real experience.
I want you to know that the memory
flashed in my head, for a reason not clear to me,
when I sighted the words 'blessed' and 'blue'!
I have neither built up resentment for the woman
nor have I been dogged by the memory.
Truly.

My first-born is on the far left.
He was twenty-seven months old
his sister, in the middle was about one month old,
and his brother was fifteen months old.

Pondering about My Blog

I've been through quite a bit these past months that I haven't posted.  First, packing and moving and then unpacking . The first step of unpacking was my taking down boxes that were five and six boxes high.  About two weeks after I’d moved and was in the midst of unpacking, I developed horrendous pain in my ribs. I slathered on my gel I use to alleviate Fibromyalgia pain. Realizing that even that was not helping. Trying to make a long story short- Asked for pain pills No help; asked for another kind Doctor wanted to see me Went in- he didn’t understand why I was still in pain Sent me to get x-rays Diagnosis: compressed fracture in my 9th vertebra Cause: osteporosis Now on meds for that I’ve discovered that anytime I overdo, pain comes back, not quite full-blown, but enough that I must stop doing whatever I’m doing. That includes sitting at my computer writing. I wanted to bring my friends up-to-date; I’m pondering whether I should stop blogging altogether o
