That post amused me Norma. It was a bit like the "make a sentence using the following words or phrases" we were given at prep school.

indeed, it is! I did the same with the spelling list for my students. If a haiku or story isn't immediately forthcoming, I skip that week's list. I want it to be fun, not drudgery.
