ABC Wednesday: V is for Violas

dwarf pansies
yellow, delightful,
spreading cheer!

correcting name
violas they are
still lovely!
experience cheer at Rebecca's
Postcard from Paradise

Kay G. commented that
her husband called these violas.
I checked on Google,
and it seems to be
the correct name.
Here is the site
that was the most helpful
to see the difference
between violas and pansies.
They both are members
of the viola species.
Nothing like learning more,
even from one's mistake!
So I repost these delightful
little gems via ABC Wednesday!

I've never heard of dwarf pansies, Nonnie. They almost look like yellow Johnny-Jump-Ups. Sweet.

My husband calls them viola...that might be the scientific name, I don't know...they look like little pansies to me! We love them too, we had a pot of them out front and the deer ate them right down!
My sweet husband said not to worry, they would come right back...and he was right, as always!! xx (We moved them to the BACKyward, which is fenced in!)
Norma Ruttan said…
Kay, your hubby could be right because since they look like pansies that's why I called them that!
Reader Wil said…
We call them all violas( violen) in Dutch. We have only one word for them.
Thanks for your visit. For us the V sign meant victory and peace. There was no peace for us possible without the ultimate victory.

Those violas fill the heart with comfort. What an inviting kitchen window ... a place to bloom in more ways than one.
