Haiku My Heart: Crewel Work

stitched flowers, crewel work
fosters warm memories of
Momma, the artiste

This lovely piece hangs

in my living room.

When my hubby and I gave the kit
to my multi-talented momma,
I had never heard of crewel work.
But I knew that my mother
could do anything she set
her mind to do.
So I wasn't surprised that
this lovely and precious
work came to be.

with abundant pleasure,
I'm linked to radiant Rebecca
and others
at Haiku My Heart

You know, you made me think. Back when I was being raised by my Mother, we never thought of her as an artist, yet when you think about it, she was indeed an artist in every sense of the word. She could sew, she cooked from scratch, she arranged the house by placing furniture, (Feng Shui?) , hanging pictures and photos, arranging flowers in a vase, making hats, mittens and scarves from wool yarn and so on and on. I'm sure when I talk to my sister, she'll remember more examples.
Crewel, embroidery, knitting, crochet. All these things were done my Mom at home at some time or another.
Thank you for this post today. Lifted me up tremendously.

Peace
You are blessed to have some of your mother's crewel still available to display. Many of our family heirlooms were destroyed by a bitter and angry sibling.

The word 'crewel' is entirely new to me. I appreciate learning something new. Your Momma is talented.
