Gifts from My Cousin

When I heard the postman knock at my door,
I thought my Carson's order had arrived.
But, no, it was surprise box from
my cousin Cheryl and her husband Jerry!
Getting the scissors, I scored the box lid with them
and quickly opened the box,
then took my gifts from
the shiny, gorgeous gold bag.
Ta da, my gifts are...
"Dandy" the bear,
as in Yankee Doodle Dandy,
I opine,
and a rocking horse!
Now, this song by George M. Cohan
is marching around in my head!

I’m a Yankee Doodle Dandy,
A Yankee Doodle, do or die.
A real live nephew of my Uncle Sam,
Born on the fourth of July.

I’ve got a Yankee Doodle sweetheart,
She’s my Yankee Doodle joy.
Yankee Doodle came to London
Just to ride the ponies.
I am the Yankee Doodle Boy.

When I saw Dandy up close, with
his long arms and the Mohair material
of which he's made,
the similarities to Steiff bears came to my mind.
The history of Steiff bears can be viewed here.

Cheryl and family:
thank you!
merci beaucoup!
danke schon!
grazie mille!
muchas gracias!

Organic and Fresh Salad

The beans seen above and layered on my salad below are grown by my granddaughter Candice.  The name of the beans is Tanya's Pink Pods. All veggies on her Earth Candy Acres farm are organically grown. The beans are delicious and tender, making a grand addition to my salad. Topping the veggies are dried cranberries, adding a bit of sweetness.
