“Nature looks dead in winter
her life is gathered into her heart.
She withers the plant down to the root
that she may grow it up again fairer and stronger.
She calls her family together within her inmost home
to prepare them for being scattered abroad
upon the face of the earth.”

to prepare them for being scattered abroad... This hits especially close to home since all my children and grandbabykins were all gathered together under one roof for the holidays. It's hard to comprehend that nature is still quite alive and well even in the coldest of winters.
