Random 5 Friday: On Valentine's Day

1. Repeatedly, I am surprised to find that once again it is Friday!
It should be no surprise, right?
After all, I’ve lived 73 years in this cycle of weeks.
Yet, when I start reading folks whose blogs
I admire, BAM! Here it is…Friday!

2. I had four very pleasant emails to open on Monday-
four ebooks that had been on my Amazon Wish List
for my Kindle,
thanks to two granddaughters and their significant guys.

3. The temperature in our Hoosier state
topped out yesterday at 32F.
A veritable heat wave
compared to subzero temperatures
we’ve endured this month.

4. I was treated to a movie this week, “Monuments Men.”
It’s based on a true event from WWII,
an inspiring story about the world’s great art
being rescued from the Nazis.
It’s worth wandering out from a cozy hearth to see.

5. Being Valentine’s Day, I’m thinking of the amazing insight
my then 19 year old granddaughter had
for my first Valentine’s Day without my husband.
I was totally taken aback
wwen I felt the bottom fall out of my world,
with its being only one month since his death,
yet she knew  intuitively
how this day would tear at my heart.
She filled my heart with such gratitude
for her instinct of sending love to me.

This Valentine was sent to Anete, my beloved sister-in-law
from my younger brother when they were in grade school.
Who knew that these two were destined to be sweethearts
and get married?

The film "Monuments Men" was partly shot in my town Wernigerode, you've seen it now (I dont know, why Feedjit show Taucha or Leipzig as my town - ) in the movie... and in my blog too, on many photos -
Have a nice time, much love

Mascha,
Being a movie love and if I lived in your town, I would find it thrilling for this movie to have been made there.

Time does seem to fly by quickly. Hard to believe we're already 1 1/2 months into the new year. - Oh I am so happy your Granddaughter helped you through your 1st V-Day without your hubby. My mom always finds this a hard holiday and my dad has been gone 16 years now. Enjoy your new books.

Ida, the pain of losing one's mate is not as sharp as the first years, but we still miss their loving presence.

Pondering about My Blog

I've been through quite a bit these past months that I haven't posted.  First, packing and moving and then unpacking . The first step of unpacking was my taking down boxes that were five and six boxes high.  About two weeks after I’d moved and was in the midst of unpacking, I developed horrendous pain in my ribs. I slathered on my gel I use to alleviate Fibromyalgia pain. Realizing that even that was not helping. Trying to make a long story short- Asked for pain pills No help; asked for another kind Doctor wanted to see me Went in- he didn’t understand why I was still in pain Sent me to get x-rays Diagnosis: compressed fracture in my 9th vertebra Cause: osteporosis Now on meds for that I’ve discovered that anytime I overdo, pain comes back, not quite full-blown, but enough that I must stop doing whatever I’m doing. That includes sitting at my computer writing. I wanted to bring my friends up-to-date; I’m pondering whether I should stop blogging altogether o
