Signs, Signs: Hotel to Apartments

The January 16, 2014, issue of our local newspaper reported that the new senior apartments would soon be completed.  Well, as of this past Saturday, June 14th, my fellow workshop mates know that it still is not complete.  We were able to get a peek into the lobby.

The four signs I’m contributing this week were taken at The Lofts at Roberts.

A bit of history: The Roberts was a beautiful hotel when downtown was the place  where Muncie shopped in the 1940s and 1950s.  Muncie Central High School’s proms were held there in the large ballroom. With the building of the Mall in the 1970s, it pulled shopping away from the downtown area to the northeastern edge of town.

One of the signs says the apartments are affordable. To me, affordable is a subjective word so I went to The Lofts at Roberts web site to get a better idea of the monthly cost.
Here it is:
One bedroom is $411-$512 for 707 square feet to 938 square feet
Two bedrooms cost $491-$612 for 982 square feet to 1263 square feet
I am curious whether these prices include utilities, probably not.

I do hope that the company doing the remodeling is able to finish the work and to open the apartments soon.  I think that this set of apartments would draw people to move here.
Nice, neat sign
letting us know that
we need to use the stairs.

That sort of repurposing happens a lot.

I love those old mailboxes, a very nice detail. Saying what is and isn't affordable is difficult. I hope these lofts are successful though, they look nice!

Pondering about My Blog

I've been through quite a bit these past months that I haven't posted.  First, packing and moving and then unpacking . The first step of unpacking was my taking down boxes that were five and six boxes high.  About two weeks after I’d moved and was in the midst of unpacking, I developed horrendous pain in my ribs. I slathered on my gel I use to alleviate Fibromyalgia pain. Realizing that even that was not helping. Trying to make a long story short- Asked for pain pills No help; asked for another kind Doctor wanted to see me Went in- he didn’t understand why I was still in pain Sent me to get x-rays Diagnosis: compressed fracture in my 9th vertebra Cause: osteporosis Now on meds for that I’ve discovered that anytime I overdo, pain comes back, not quite full-blown, but enough that I must stop doing whatever I’m doing. That includes sitting at my computer writing. I wanted to bring my friends up-to-date; I’m pondering whether I should stop blogging altogether o
