ABC Wednesday: Aerophilately

A is for aerophilately

I hadn't thought of myself as a collector of stamps till
I ran across the definition on The Phronistery.
I became a collector by happenstance
of receiving postcards from other countries via Postcrossing.

definition according to The Phrontistery:
collecting air-mail stamps

I started saving the stamps I use on my Christmas cards each year and that is fun to look back on. The stamp with the white home is pretty.

I love stamps coming in the post. Aerophilately is a popular collecting theme although it doesn't limit itself to stamps, could be postal markings, routes, you name any aspect of airmail, even rocket post, and people collect it.

It is fun geting mail, especially from another country. Thanks for adding to my defintion with the other ways. I had no idea that it included these other ways. BTW, I'll need to look up what rocket post means!

Another fun thing about collecting, Ann. I liked the white home too.

Cool word! Love that you became a happenstance collector...there are so many stamps but I can see doing a theme♪ http://lauriekazmierczak.com/artsy-folks/

I never knew there was a word for collecting air mail stamps, though it doesn't surprise me—there's a word for everything, after all. A friend here in New Zealand also does Postcrossings—I wonder if she's an aerophilatelist? Great idea for an ABCW post!
