101 Ranch and Wild West Show

101 Ranch
traveled from city to town
advanced by uncle

My mom’s uncle was an advance-man
for the traveling 101 Ranch.
That meant he went to the city/town
ahead of the others to advertise their arrival.
From the photos, I conclude that they traveled by train.
Our family is fortunate that these photos survived.
My cousin’s surviving daughter
allowed me to scan the album.
(I wish they were mine,
but am glad that they are being well-cared for.)
These photos and others are in the album
my great-uncle compiled while working for the 101 Ranch.

I know exactly what you mean about wishing old family photos were yours. I briefly borrowed a box of photos from my uncle several years ago. I scanned everything. He died last year and now the box has been taken to a different part of the country where I'll never see them again. Having scans isn't the same as having the originals which your family member once held.

Thanks for this; I felt so selfish feeling that way. Even though I was too young to remember him, he did take my picture when I was few months old in his photo studio.

Splendid! Old photos have always fascinated me since I was a child, Of course now I'm older there are a lot more 'old' photos!

That's true for all of us who are of a certain age!
