NONNIE'S PHOTO A DAY: D is for Disastrous and Destruction

A disastrous scene surprised me
as I neared the familiar corner
where the old grocery store
turned flea market once stood.
The story waited to be read by me
in our town’s newspaper.
It’s an age-old story waiting to be told
in many places- gas lines and water lines-
installed 50 to 100 years ago finally “give up the ghost.”

Visit ABC Wednesday
for other 'D' words.
Thank you, Mrs. Nesbitt for creating this wondrous meme;
and thank you, Roger, for keeping it maintained.

We lost a hundred year hotel in town this year - to fire. It was a great loss, - not only as a facility but because of its history - 100 years in western Canada is quite as long time....

I think no one was injured because it happened in the early morning hours, but it was really tough on the firefighters because of the smoke and the temperatures.

Gas is certainly a danger when it goes wrong.

That is such a dangerous occurrance, we lost a famous restaurant in a prominent district last year and one person succumbed to the fire.
