NONNIE'S CARPE DIEM HAIKU: Experience and Education

My partner teacher at my last school introduced me to Workshop Way® and its philosophy created by Sister Grace Pilon. Armed with a summer workshop learning the philosophy, I set about initiating the program in my classroom that fall. The children developed independence in learning and I, the teacher, had time to work with small groups for further instruction and practice in concepts not understood.  The end result was I became a more accepting teacher for each child, and that in turn, made them accepting of each other.  I wish that all teachers could be introduced to this philosophy during their college years.

Hoosier Quote:
“What education does is to make a tool of every faculty-
how to open it, how to keep it sharp,
and how to apply it to all practical purposes.”

I was rather perplexed by their website. I couldn't find any explanation of what the Workshop Way actually did in practice. I assume that one had to become part of the organisation actually to benefit.
