Pondering about My Blog

I've been through quite a bit these past months that I haven't posted.
First, packing and moving and then unpacking
. The first step of unpacking was my taking down boxes that were five and six boxes high.
About two weeks after I’d moved and was in the midst of unpacking, I developed horrendous pain in my ribs. I slathered on my gel I use to alleviate Fibromyalgia pain. Realizing that even that was not helping. Trying to make a long story short-
  • Asked for pain pills
  • No help; asked for another kind
  • Doctor wanted to see me
  • Went in- he didn’t understand why I was still in pain
  • Sent me to get x-rays
  • Diagnosis: compressed fracture in my 9th vertebra
  • Cause: osteporosis
  • Now on meds for that
I’ve discovered that anytime I overdo, pain comes back, not quite full-blown, but enough that I must stop doing whatever I’m doing. That includes sitting at my computer writing. I wanted to bring my friends up-to-date; I’m pondering whether I should stop blogging altogether or do it only occasionally. Thank you for listening to this and please say a little prayer for me.

Dear Norma. My hope is that you simply do what you can, when you can. Seeing your stacks of boxes reminds me that moving at a late age isn't so unusual. Our garage currently holds more of our household than our house does. Moving isn't easy at any age but especially at ours. Be well, my friend.

Norma, I'm so sorry you are going through this. I say do what you can. Maybe blog when you feel you can. Keep going and doing as much as possible without overdoing. Praying for you!

Ouch! Moving is really exhausting and it's so easy to overdo things, having to lift things heavier than one should, and on top of that one is usually very eager to get things done and back to "normal" as quickly as possible. Living with chronic pain problems myself, my advice would be to give yourself time, but don't be to hasty to quit blogging altogether. The blog doesn't go anywhere just because you let it rest for a while. You can pick it up again whenever you feel like it - and probably at least some of your friends will notice when you do :)

I am so sorry that you are in pain. Moving is exhausting for even the young at heart. Sending prayers of healing, rest, and peace.

Saying a prayer for you now...after all the prayers that have been said for Roger, it is the least I can do. I did not know if I would ever blog again, when he first had his stroke, but now it helps life seem a little bit normal.
I feel so bad that you are going through this and am sending you prayers. I basically (most of the time) only blog 3 days per week......why don't you try something like that first and see if you can handle it? catchatwithcarenandcody

I've been wondering how you've been getting on but thought that your move was occupying your time (knowing the feeling with my house renovations). I'm so sorry to hear about your osteoporosis problems. I think that occasional updates would be a good idea for a several reasons: it would keep you and your fellow bloggers in touch and it would give you a focus for your communication talents. You will be in my thoughts.

Graham, thanks so much for the encouragement. In April I will have an MRI to see if there is something more that can be done to help me.

Caren, thank you for your concern. See comment to Graham.

If blogging is something you enjoy do it when you feel you can. The most important thing though is to take care of yourself.

Hello Nonnie...Looking back over my blog I discovered a comment you made at Easter, in 2014, on my blog (https://fatdormouse.wordpress.com/) . I felt led to follow the link to leave a comment/message for you. Pain is such a debilitating thing, isn't it? I'm recovering (slowly) from back pain this week, and found it really difficult. With a move on top of your chronic pain it must be hard. I hope that you will be able to find a balance for your life, which does include blogging, if that gives you pleasure. I hope & pray that you will find contentment and joy, resting in God - and healing too. Or at least a way to manage your pain. May God hold you in the palm of his hand...Happy Easter.

Praying and hoping you are feeling better. I know what it's like to have chronic pain. :-(
