Haiku My Heart: Leaving the Nest

day before leaving,
was Momma giving advice
to each baby bird?

getting set
time to leave the nest
time to fly!

Baby robins grow up so fast.
I watched them go from bare bodies
to fluffy feathers in just over a week.
And off they went sometime yesterday.
Unfortunately I had neither the time
or ability to sit at my window
long enough

to capture their leaving,
but I know they did
because their nest is empty today.
I wish them a good life.

dear nonnie,
there is something so reassuring having a birds eye view of a summer nest. the mother taking care of every need, so loyal and dedicated to nurturing her young. and the day comes so soon when she must teach them to take flight!
and that task too, when the time is right, comes so fervently to her.
this will be my station in life the first of august when my one and only moves to his first apartment and finishes college at ASU. i love him for doing his first two years of college here. i will always cherish the gift of two more years together in our family home.
i am so happy and proud of him, and yes i miss him already!

Isn't it wonderful to watch natural happenings that continue to go on without our intervention, despite the errors of the two=leggeds? I had a nest last year in the garage. We always leave the small door open so the dog can get in and out from the house. Mrs. Robin made it her personal entry to her nest that was built on the hog sled that hangs there in summer.
Love the haiku and the thought involved with this subject.

Peace

Rebecca, it's been a total delight for me to have experienced this.
speaking of a son going away to college...after we left our youngest at college, I cried most of the way home. but let me reassure you, this too will pass. blessings!

What a miracle you have witnessed and shared with us here! The metaphor is so profound... making a nest so that our little ones, and others, can fly off into the world... thank you Nonnie!

Some of those little birdies don't listen to mama. I found one hopping in the grass the other day. Yes well wishes to all the birds.
Oh such a delightful haiku and photos ~ beauties of nature ~ well captured!

Pondering about My Blog

I've been through quite a bit these past months that I haven't posted.  First, packing and moving and then unpacking . The first step of unpacking was my taking down boxes that were five and six boxes high.  About two weeks after I’d moved and was in the midst of unpacking, I developed horrendous pain in my ribs. I slathered on my gel I use to alleviate Fibromyalgia pain. Realizing that even that was not helping. Trying to make a long story short- Asked for pain pills No help; asked for another kind Doctor wanted to see me Went in- he didn’t understand why I was still in pain Sent me to get x-rays Diagnosis: compressed fracture in my 9th vertebra Cause: osteporosis Now on meds for that I’ve discovered that anytime I overdo, pain comes back, not quite full-blown, but enough that I must stop doing whatever I’m doing. That includes sitting at my computer writing. I wanted to bring my friends up-to-date; I’m pondering whether I should stop blogging altogether o
